Meeting in Poland

May 2010

From 15th to 20th May our school had a great pleasure to entertain teachers and students from Belgium, Germany, Finland, Italy, Spain and Sweden. It was the last international meeting of the participants of the Comenius project “Roots and wings 2008 – 2010”.Foreign visitors have been to our school and learned about the “roots” of Mazovia Region.

16th May – Sunday

Teachers and students visited The Royal Castle, The Old Town and The Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw.

In the evening the teachers worked hard.

 

17th May – Monday

At the beginning of the day the guests came to see our school. Our students had a possibility to meet students and teachers from the countries taking part in the project. Foreign students told us about their own schools and regions.

After that, at the conference room of the Arkadia Hotel, Comenius teams saw the tasks connected with the project – “Man bites dog activity “( the interviews with elderly couples made by students of each school ) and “European Painting” ( team works of all partner schools ).

Later this day the meeting with some representatives of the authority of the Targówek District of the city of Warsaw took place.

In the afternoon young people took part in the art activities at school. They were making white and red ( Polish national colours) bangles.
Some students were finishing their bangles in a couch during the tours of Mazovia.

18th May – Tuesday

Teachers and students visited The Dukes’ of Mazovia Castle in Ciechanów, the Krasiński family residence in Opinogóra( a mansion house, a palace surrounded by a beautiful park in English style) and Pułtusk – one of the oldest cities of Mazovia with the Bishop’s Castle and the longest market square in Europe.

19th May – Wednesday

The last point of the Warsaw’s meeting was the guided tour of : Żelazowa Wola – the birth-place of the world famous Polish composer Fryderyk Chopin, the fortified church in Brochów –Fryderyk Chopin was baptized in it.

After visiting places connected with Fryderyk Chopin the guests went to the Regional Museum in Łowicz. They admired beautiful artistic paper-cut-outs and another decorations made from straw and colourful paper.

Yong people took part in the art workshop. They made their own artistic cut-outs.

We are happy that we could show our "roots".
